IN LIFE AND IN DEATH:

End of Life Doulas provide compassionate, supportive, non-medical assistance and comfort through the end of life transition.

A doula believes in people; aspires to promote a sense of agency in all aspects of a person’s inner wellbeing.

We believe that living and dying are not opposites, we're living right up until the moment we die.

Doula’s can be present in sacred space before, during and after death. We are allies in you and your families’ care and comfort.

We provide honest, open, non-judgemental communication in end of life planning in wellness or in illness guided by your wishes, wants and needs.

This business is undergoing big changes, as I navigate how that will look for the future I am not accepting any Doula work at present.

So good of you to visit. What brought you here today? Is it my creativity that has intrigued you? Did grief bring you or Is it the safe space to think and talk about death? I am passionate about all these things. creating art, providing a safe space to chat about life, death and grief. You will find many resources on the contact page.

I have been a creative for longer than I have been a nurse but over the last few years I have focused on and dedicated time to creating artwork that is helping me heal. It brings me great joy to create art of all kinds.

In 2019, I suffered an immeasurable loss, when my dearest friend died suddenly and unexpectedly. The days and months that followed  were spent blindly supporting her family and my friends, without giving much thought to my own needs. I was numb! It was much easier to box myself into my helping role, than to seek out the guidance and support that I needed. Over time, it became very evident to me, that if those of us that work within health care, struggle to find the supportive avenues to grieving/coping/healing, what might the average person’s experience be? This too has been a catalyst to my desire to support those before, during and after end of life. It is my intention to honour her life and death as an End of Life Doula.

It is my privilege to own a small hobby farm in StoneMills township, lands once occupied by the Wendake, Mississauga and Anishinabe First Nation peoples, it is here, on my land , with my animals, that I find my peace and sanctuary. In keeping with the spirit of the First peoples, my intention is to provide an inclusive, supportive pathway and space for those that cross my path. Obtaining my End of Life Doula certificate from Douglas college in 2020 was something that I have planned to do for a number of years.  I hold a professional certificate from Sir Wilfred Laurier University's School of Social work in Death, Dying and Bereavement. I hold memberships in
the Death & Dying Network International, End of Life Doula Association of Canada, Death Doula Ontario Network, the College of Nurses of Ontario as well as the Ontario Nurses's Association. I hold a Certificate in Advance Care Planning, Goals of Care and Health Care Consent through Hospice Palliative Care Ontario. My lengthy nursing background and experience will bring value, in knowledge, skill and ability to offer you and your loved ones support and comfort, while navigating end of life with your needs, values and goals in mind. I understand that talking about death doesn’t come naturally for most, so let me help you to get the conversation started.
