What is a Death Doula?
An End of Life Doula (pronounced Doo-la) offers non-medical, support to clients and their families through the end of life (EOL) process. The services of a doula can be secured in times of wellness or illness dependent on your needs. In wellness we can provide assistance with Advance Care Planning (ACP), community resource liaison services, and so much more. In times of illness we can help you and your loved one navigate the health care system, advocate on your behalf, assist in and facilitate goals of care conversations, offer family support, legacy work, etc. We fill the gaps that is missing in our death denying society offering a foundation fortified with consistent support when you and your loved ones are most in need.
An EOL doula does NOT offer counselling, legal, financial, medical or estate planning, services or advice. They cannot function as a witness to legal documentation. They do not provide medical intervention or clinical tasks of any kind
ie. giving medication, dressing changes etc. We do not make decisions for our clients and their families nor do we take the place of a family member. EOL doula’s make no guarantee of a “good” death however we will endeavour to support you and your families members before, during and after death.
